Combi-Air-System
__________________________________________________________________________
For belt
driers, there have been various alternatives to design the
air system. The most common one uses several external intake
and exhaust air ducts, arranged around the drier according
to the desired air system. It is often necessary to realize
different air and temperature zones in the drying plant in
order to optimize the complete drying process, for the
quality of the product is always the most important thing
and determines the design of the plant. This means, however,
a great number of air ducts and consequently problems with
regard of their construction and the accessibility to the
drier. The ducts have to be fitted into the structural
situation and are consequently very branched and winding,
generating additional nests of dirt, which must not be
underestimated and which are difficult to get to for
cleaning inside as well as outside. Just think of bends,
various weld seams, flange connections etc. The flow and
heat losses increase, reducing the electrical and thermal
efficiency. Moreover, valuable space is built up, at the
expense of the accessibility, let alone the extra costs for
material and space.
Years ago, STELA developed the wellknown „Power-Pack“ system
to counteract this problem. This system binds the air ducts
such as hot air and circulation air ducts as well as the hot
air generation and the fans into a common duct which is
arranged laterally at the drier. As a result, the air ducts
are reduced enormously. The smaller duct surfaces reduce the
potential sources of dirt. The drier can be cleaned more
easily and the efficiency increases because of lower
radiation losses. This system has proven successful for
years now and has sold on the market.
Now STELA developed the Combi-Air system in order to use the
advantages of the Power-Pack system also for driers with
greater belt widths. This system is based on the same
principle as the Power-Pack system with a large air duct
with various divisions, including the various hot air and
circulation air ducts as well as the hot air generation and
the fans. In contrast to the Power-Pack, the Combi-Air
system is not flanged directly to the drier, but is in short
distance from it. The air out of the Combi-Air system is led
into the drying plant via few small branch ducts. There is
the vital advantage that the drier and the product are
easily accessible from all sides by means of large doors,
defined, energy-optimized air ducts with the most different
parameters, however, are possible.
Das STELA Combi-Air system can be fitted out with all the
common hot air generators, e. g. steam heat exchangers, gas
or oil burners or electric air heaters.
The Combi-Air system is distinguished by:
• compact design
• optimally treated product
• optimization of energy and space required
• low maintenance
